Region 1

November 16

Lubbock: Adoption Expo will be held at PlainsCapital Bank in conjunction with Nation Adoption Day events. Families are invited to hear adoptive families briefly share their story, enjoy refreshments, and then visit with representatives of the Lubbock Interagency Council. CPS and the private CPAs will have booths set up with printed information available for our guests. The Heart Gallery of the South Plains will be on display the month of November at PlainsCapital Bank, and one of the highlights of Adoption Expo.

November 18

Amarillo: Court hearings will be held in Randall County along with a small reception.  Each child will be able to adopt a bear and sibling will be able to pick out a stuff animal.

November 19

Lubbock: Families are invited to a reception with refreshments, the reading of the Adoption Day Proclamation, a brief presentation, and picture taking. Families, friends and staff will then walk to the courthouse for adoption hearings. There the families will receive a family "goodie bag" and have special pictures taken.  Children will have snuggly bears to adopt as their very own and siblings will get to choose stuffed animals as part of the adoption celebration.

November 20

Amarillo: National Adoption Celebration at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas. Families that have adopted from November 2009 are invited as well as families in the process of adopting. The Museum will set up activities for the kids.  Wendy's is providing food and the families will get goodie bags.  The event will be from 1-3.

Wichita County: Heart Gallery is on display in various areas of Wichita County during the month of November.  The opening was Tuesday, October 12 with Cedric McKenzie speaking.

Kyle/San Marcos: Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle. Mass adoption will be held for one of the cluster courts - Judge Bonicoro. Casa is supporting this as well.

Bryan: 1:30pm Bryan Courthouse.

Waco: 1:30pm Baylor Law School. Theme: To Infinity and Beyond - Toy Story

Belton: 9:30am Bell County Court Annex. Theme: Wizard of Oz

November 6

Victoria: "A picnic at the zoo" is being planned for children free for adoption.  This is sponsored by the Rotary Club and they have sponsored this activity for the past 3 -4 years.  This is considered a match party.

November 12

Bexar County: Breakfast from 8:30 - 9:30. Mass adoption (Bexar County) will be held at the Valero headquarters.  Justice O'Neil will be present.  We will have volunteers and breakfast will be for 500 people.  At this time the plan is to have 60 children adopted. Child Welfare Board and Casa are assisting in the sponsoring of this event.

November 16

Kyle: 9:00am Plum Creek Country Club in Kyle. Mass adoption will be held for one of the cluster courts - Judge Bonicoro. Casa is supporting this as well.

November 20

San Antonio: Family counseling Services and the San Antonio COAC is holding an adoption day appreciation luncheon for adoptive parents.  It will be held at one of the local Churches.

San Angelo: National Adoption Day will have various activities to honor the families. Celebrations will provide punch and other treats.

November 19

Odessa: National Adoption Day will be celebrated at 10:00am at the Ector County Courthouse in Odessa, TX. The Honorable Sylvia Chavez will preside over the adoptions of seven children by five families. The adoptions of 14 other children from the foster care system by families in the Permian-Basin will also be recognized during the event.
