This revision of the Child Protective Services Handbook was published on August 9, 2010. Summaries of new or revised items are provided below.
Consent for Admission to Mental Health Facility (PATS 3462)
The items below are added to describe procedures for CPS staff to follow when providing consent for admission to mental health facilities. Staff were informed of these procedures with the issuance of PSA 07-134 on June 8, 2007.
These procedures comply with:
• Health and Safety Code requirements for the admission of children in CPS conservatorship to mental health facilities; and
• Family Code law concerning medical consent.
