Clarification of Child Death Reports for CPS

The item below is revised to clarify that reports of a child death from law enforcement or the Medical Examiner's Office are not automatically assessed as P1 intakes.

SWI must look at the whole situation when assessing child death reports, just as for any other report. In order for an intake to be generated, there must be an allegation of abuse or neglect. The assessment must also include whether or not the situation appears to be under CPS jurisdiction to investigate. See:
