What is the Child and Family Service Review?

The Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) is a federal and state collaborative administered by the Children’s Bureau. It is designed to ensure that state child welfare systems provide quality services to children and families.  Following a review, states develop program improvement plans (PIPs) and then put them into practice.

The first Texas CFSR was in February 2002 and the second was completed in March 2008. From April through September in 2016, Texas will conduct its Own-State Review for Round 3 of the Child and Family Services Review.
