746.3117 Do caregivers in my get-well care program require special training or qualifications?

In addition to updating the language, this rule has been amended to clarify that the requirements outlined in this rule are in addition to all other caregiver training requirements and to correct the total number of annual training hours required for get-well care program caregivers from 20 to 29.

Why 29?

Get-well care program caregivers are required to obtain an additional 5 hours of annual training in prevention and control of communicable diseases and caring for ill children.

In 2011, the annual training requirements for all caregivers was increased from 15 hours to 24 hours; however, this rule was not updated to reflect the new total of required training hours for get-well care program caregivers, which is 29 hours (24 annual training hours + 5 additional annual training hours required for get-well care program caregivers).

746.3119 May the director of my well child-care program also direct my get-well care program?

This rule has been amended to correct the total annual training hours required for directors of a get-well program from 30 to 40 hours.

Why 40?

Get-well care program directors are required to obtain an additional 10 hours of annual training in prevention and control of communicable diseases and caring for ill children.

In 2011, the annual training requirements child care program directors was increased from 20 hours to 30 hours; however, this rule was not updated to reflect the new total of required training hours for get-well care program directors, which is 40 hours (30 annual training hours + 10 additional annual training hours required for get-well care program directors).
