Subchapter T. Minimum Standard Rule Revisions that May Affect Compliance

High Chair

746.4501 What type of tables and chairs must I use for the children?

This rule has been amended to specify that if the manufacturer requires safety straps on chairs then the safety straps must be fastened whenever a child is using the chair.

What does this mean?

If any chairs you use at your operation include safety straps, the safety straps must be fastened whenever a child is using the chair; however, any tables or chairs at your operation that do not require safety straps are acceptable and should be used as instructed by the manufacturer.

Can I choose to purchase or make safety straps for chairs that do not have them?

No. You should not attempt to purchase or create safety straps for chairs unless specifically required by the chair manufacturer.

Tara's operation uses several different types of high chairs in the infant care room. All but one of the high chairs come with safety straps.
