Revisions for Clarity and Consistency

747.3505 Are firearms or other weapons allowed at my child-care home?

Certain persons who are trained and certified to carry a firearm on duty may carry a loaded firearm in a child-care home. This rule has been amended to clarify who may carry a loaded firearm in a child-care home by:

• replacing the informal term of "law enforcement official" with "peace officer", which is defined at 2.12, Code of Criminal Procedure; and

• specifying that commissioned security officers are persons who may carry a firearm on the premises of a child-care home.

747.3507 May I have toys or other types of equipment that explode or shoot things?

This rule has been amended to clarify the language of the rule for better readability and ease of understanding and to clarify that this rule also applies to field trips.
