Internships with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) give students or job seekers work experience, a variety of skills, and an opportunity to connect with other professionals in a real-work environment.

All candidates must allow DFPS to conduct a criminal history and DFPS background check.

How soon should I apply?

Interested candidates should apply two months, and at a minimum, one month before the semester starts. Your internship cannot begin until all necessary background checks are completed.

Can I fulfill my practicum at DFPS?

Does my internship have to fulfill an official curriculum requirement?
