Encouraging Infant Activity
Infants need time to explore their environment and move their arms and legs to reach physical development milestones.
Aid their development by:
- removing infants from their cribs if they are awake so they get plenty of activity time;
- ensure that you have a clean floor space for infants to stretch and play on their stomachs; and
- make sure all toys are clean and free of germs. Infants place objects in their mouths.
This is a healthy part of their development though they need constant supervision to ensure they are not putting anything in their mouth that could be hazardous.
