Factor A: Activity Space
The amount of activity space you have determines the number of children you can care for in your home.
If you care for 3 children, you must have at least 90 square feet of activity space (3x30=90).
Measure your activity space with a measuring tape. Take the total amount of square footage and divide by 30 to get an idea of how many children you can care for in your home. . To quickly calculate square footage for your activity space, measure the width (8 ft. or 8') and length (10') of the area in feet. Write down each number and multiply the two numbers (8x10=80 square feet). Round up or down for extra inches (8'3" = 8' or 8'11' = 9').
