  • Description: The purpose of the Adult Protective Services Special Task Unit is to improve the response to adults who are elderly or have disabilities and are victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The unit is a group of selected professionals from a variety of disciplines who meet regularly to discuss and consult on specific cases. 11th Annual Crimes Against the Elderly Conference October 2, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • Description:  An annual event that offers a fun filled day of training for social workers, nurses, activity professionals, licensed nursing facilities personal, administrators, caregivers, and others that work with elderly. A collaborative event with Adult Protective Services and the APS Silver Star Board to provide an educational conference for professionals, caregivers, and anyone interested in issues regarding elderly.  Topics for the day are; Wound Identification, Elder Financial Exploitation & the Role of the Probate Court, Living  a Stress less Life in a Stressful World, Laughter and Yoga-the best Medicine, and concludes with Medicare & Medicaid Myth busters.  The cost to attend is free with a donation of a toiletry item used for our Silver Room. Examples: Toothpaste, toilet paper, cleaning products, toothbrush, shampoo, body wash, disposable under-wear, fan, or blanket.  Walgreens will be providing flu shots. Sixty vendors will be on site providing information on services for our senior community. Social Work CEU's will be available for a cost of $25. TCLOE credits will be offered for law enforcement professionals at no cost.
