Appendix 2251: Time Frames for Investigations

CPS January 2010

All investigation time frames are included in the below chart (with the exception of those for school investigations). Except for the Priority 1 time frame, the time frames are in calendar days.

P2 – report Not screened – within 72 hours

SWI received the report

Within 24 hours of the initial contact or attempted contact, the worker must document this in the IMPACT Contact Detail page in the investigation (INV) stage. The date can be viewed on the IMPACT Investigation Conclusion page in the Investigation Initiated field. This date can be backdated if the worker made or attempted to make contact to initiate the investigation before the investigation stage was created.

P2 - report screened - within 72 hours

Regional Screener stage progresses to investigation

Within 24 hours of the initial contact or attempted contact, the worker must document this in the IMPACT Contact Detail page in the investigation (INV) stage. The date can be viewed on the IMPACT Investigation Conclusion page in the Investigation Initiated field. This date can be backdated if the worker made or attempted to make contact to initiate the investigation before the investigation stage was created.

Approve actions before the supervisor was available

P1 – 1 calendar day

P2 – 3 calendar days

The first day of these time periods is the day after the Intake report was received

Within 24 hours of the approval, the worker must document in the IMPACT Contact Detail page.

Notify parent of interview with child

The worker must document notification in IMPACT within 24 hours.

Document Safety Assessment

Worker – 7 days

The investigation was initiated

The worker documents in the Safety Assessment page in IMPACT.

After the supervisor approves the safety assessment the content can no longer be changed.

Document Safety Assessment

Supervisor approval – within 3 days

The worker submits for approval

The worker documents in the Safety Assessment page in IMPACT.

After the supervisor approves the safety assessment the content can no longer be changed.

Document Risk Assessment

Within 45 days

Intake received

The IMPACT system uses the date of the last Risk Assessment (RA) overall completion check and shows it as the date for completed status of the RA event.

Complete Investigation actions

30 days

Intake received – the first day of this time period is the day after the Intake report was received

The worker enters the date INV actions were completed in the Investigation Completed field on the IMPACT Investigation Conclusion page.

Document investigation and save & submit to supervisor on IMPACT:

Closed with no services

45 days

Intake received – the first day of this time period is the day after the Intake report was received

The IMPACT system uses the date the worker saves and submits the INV to the supervisor and shows it as the date for the Conclusion event.
