Alyssa Jones joined DFPS as the Chief of Staff on September 1, 2023. She provides strategic advice to Commissioner Muth and the executive team and manages the Office of Government Relations and the Office of Communications.
Alyssa brings extensive legislative experience and knowledge of DFPS to the position. Her career has focused on health and human services policy and the state budget as a legislative staff member in both the Texas House and Senate.
Most recently, Alyssa served as the Article II budget analyst for the Texas Senate Finance Committee, where she advised the committee on health and human services budget matters, including the DFPS budget. She also worked for several nonprofit organizations.
Alyssa has a master’s degree in public administration from the Bush School of Government and Public Service and a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University.
