Basic Needs Support Study Findings
The COVID-19 pandemic caused unprecedented challenges for families. In Texas, the Department of Family and Protective Services’ Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) division responded by providing increased funding and flexibility to grantees that allowed them to expand provisions of basic needs support to participating families. The additional family support included gift cards and in-kind goods, such as diapers and other baby supplies, food, and other household items.
